Wildpark Aurach animal park
Among the things to do in Tyrol is certainly a visit to its largest outdoor enclosure. It is only a 25-minute drive from Kirchberg. 200 animal species have found an appropriate home here, from lynx, red deers and zebus down to rabbits, donkeys and goats in the petting stable. There are also plenty of opportunities for a little break, for example on the children's playground or at the café and restaurant.
Kufstein Fortress
Medieval, imposing and a popular venue for Tyrol’s events - like theatre, operetta and concert evenings: The Kufstein Fortress is one of the most famous sights in Austria. It impresses, among other things, with the largest free-standing organ in the world and is one of the most visited attractions in the area. Just a little over half an hour’s drive separate you from Kufstein Fortress at Hotel Elisabeth.
Bathing in nature
Wondering what to do in Tyrol if you love nature? Why not try one of the many natural swimming lakes: Schwarzsee in Brixental is considered one of the most beautiful bathing lakes in the Alpine region. It is particularly known for its pleasant temperatures. Another moor lake, the Gieringer Weiher, is also close by. The forest swimming pool Waldschwimmbad Jochberg is particularly popular with families.
Swarovski Kristallwelten
One of the more sparkling things to do in Tyrol: the Swarovski Kristallwelten in Wattens. There, you will be greeted by a water-spouting stone giant. Inside, you will find sparkling chambers of wonder and multimedia experience stations. Visitors can learn lots of interesting facts about the world of crystals, their processing and use.
City trips
Among the most interesting sights in Austria are some of its cities. Kirchberg near Kitzbühel is the ideal starting point to visit Munich and enjoy the original Weißwurst, see the Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl) in Innsbruck or the baroque old town of Salzburg. Still wondering what to do in Tyrol? The alpine flower garden blooms at the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain station. Visitors can marvel at around 300 plant species and rarities from all over the world. If you are not yet out of breath, hike on to the Hornköpfl or to the sink-holes at the Kitzbüheler Horn.
